Nationally recognised CPR training at our Nelson Bay and Tomago centres, or on-site at your workplace
At Anzen Safety & Training, we deliver hands-on CPR training from our Nelson Bay and Tomago training centres, supporting workplaces across Port Stephens, Maitland, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley. Our trainers bring real frontline experience from emergency and clinical settings, so you're learning from people who have actually been there, not just people reading from a manual.
The HLTAID009 course teaches the practical skills to provide CPR in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. It's designed for individuals and workplaces alike, giving you the confidence and competence to respond effectively to a cardiac emergency and support someone until medical help arrives.
Delivered in small, practical sessions, you'll learn to recognise and assess a cardiac emergency, call for help, and perform CPR with confidence. Training covers correct use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), safe rotation of first aiders to maintain compression quality, and what to do if a casualty regurgitates or vomits. You'll also learn how to communicate effectively with emergency services and understand the psychological impact a response can have.
We also work with larger teams and corporate groups, training staff together at our Tomago facility, or on-site at your workplace. It's an efficient way to build a genuinely capable, confident team.

-
Yes - CPR is the part of your first aid certificate that needs the most frequent refreshing. Most people who hold HLTAID011 come back for a standalone CPR-only session between their full 3-year renewals, rather than redoing the whole first aid course annually.
-
Absolutely. Many local businesses send several employees together, or we can arrange a private workplace session.
-
That two-minute mark isn't arbitrary, it lines up with about five full rounds of 30 compressions and 2 breaths, which is also the interval AEDs use between rhythm checks, so it reflects how CPR is actually paced in a real response. It's also long enough to reveal whether your technique holds up as fatigue sets in, rather than just testing you on a burst of fresh energy.
-
Yes. You'll practise using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as part of the practical training.
-
If you have a knee, back or mobility issue, let us know before the course. We can often suggest alternative ways to complete the practical assessment where the training package allows.
-
Medical research is constantly evolving. Regular refresher training helps make sure you're using the most up-to-date techniques recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council.

It's worth it if you want more than one or two people confident enough to jump on a defibrillator in those first critical minutes. CPR-only sessions are quick to run for a whole team at once, so it's an easy way to build depth without sending everyone through the full first aid course.
