Commonly known as the Fire Warden Course, this training equips participants with the skills and knowledge to implement an effective emergency response in accordance with workplace emergency procedures and the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) framework.

Participants learn how to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergency situations, operating within the command, control and communication structure of the ECO. The course follows Australian Standards AS 3745 and AS 4083, ensuring best-practice compliance across all workplace types and industries.

Training covers a wide range of essential skills including:

  • Pre-emergency planning and coordination

  • Responding to alarms, signals and warnings

  • Leading evacuations and assisting occupants

  • Using communication systems and ECO identification

  • Supporting post-emergency activities and contributing to continuous improvement

This course is ideal for floor wardens, area wardens and deputy wardens responsible for implementing emergency plans and maintaining workplace safety.

  • This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

  • Refresher min. duration - N/A

    Blended min. duration - N/A

    Face-to-face min. duration- 240 minutes

    Online with face-to-face min. duration - 30 minutes

  • An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

    • Capability to complete the practical demonstrations for the course, including:

      • Contribute to facility emergency planning

      • Undertake pre-emergency planning

      • Take on a leadership role/ deputy within the emergency control organisation

      • Wear required emergency control organisation identification

      • Complete facility emergency documentation

  • Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

  • This certificate does not require renewal

  • Performance tasks:

    Documentation:

    • Emergency equipment fault log

    • Emergency evacuation incident and debrief form

    Theory assessment:

    • A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions

  • Students are required to complete a self evaluation against the following core skills as part of the enrolment process. This will allow your trainer to understand any additional support that may be required during the course delivery and assessment.

    • Learning - I can follow instructions and learn from experience in high-pressure situations.

    • Reading - I can read and understand emergency signs, instructions, and safety procedures.

    • Writing - I can fill in short incident reports or checklists using clear, simple information.

    • Oral Communication - I can speak clearly, listen carefully, and give or follow directions in an emergency.

    • Numeracy - I can use time, directions, and simple measurements to support emergency responses.
